To oversee the care, maintenance, repair, protection, and replacement of all things related to the church building and the landscaping of the church grounds.

We have seven other hard working and talented members on our team.  Our primary duties are taking care of the church structure (inside and out) and the grounds.

My wife Kathy and I have been members of Our Father's for over 30 years.  I have been on the B&G committee for several years.  In the past Kathy has served on the church council and taught Sunday school.  We have 2 adult sons and a daughter in law.  Kathy and I love to travel and ride motorcycle.  We have a photography business that we started in 1985.

I am currently the secretary for the church executive team and church council.  This position is a opportunity to work with a group of people that are motivated and interested in discussing ideas and sharing skill sets to develop and grow our church community. My responsibilities include providing discussion items and documenting group feedback. 

The Steenstra family has resided in Rockford for 18 years.  We have been members at Our Father's for 11 years.  We have enjoyed watching our children grow up as a part of the church.  We love that they have a church home and feel comfortable and happy attending.

Social Concerns

Council

The Social Concerns Committee shall inform the congregation on current social issues that may affect the members of the congregation as Christians. The committee shall not represent itself as a spokesperson for the congregation without prior approval of the Council or congregations. The committee's ministry supports the community in outreach programs by carrying out God's work. Examples of involvement are: Meals on Wheels, Hanover Foodshelf, Love INC, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, ELCA World Hunger, Highway Pick-Up, and other service projects benefiting the community.

I am a representative of the Social Concerns committee.  This ministry supports community outreach programs.  Examples of involvement include Meals on Wheels, Hanover Food Shelf, Love Inc bedding ministry and financial support, Highway 55 Cleanup, Fundraising for Lutheran Social Service, Feed My Starving Children, and Thanksgiving/Christmas food and gift baskets.

My husband and I have been a member of OFLC since 1985.  I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the large variety of volunteer opportunities offered.

As a community of women created created in the image of God, called to be discipleship of Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to growing in faith, affirming our gifts, support our another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in our church, society, and the world.

Worship & Music

Council

The Worship & Music Committee shall have special responsibility with the counsel of the Pastor and Director of Music, in matters pertaining to the worship life of the congregation. Aids in overall worship and music by:

  • Coordinating ushers, readers, greeters, nursery help, cross bearers, service coordinators, communion preparation and cleanup.
  • Oversee the music program with Director of Music, including .
  • Supervising Altar Committee.
  • Planning and publicizing the seasons and services of the church year.

I have been a member of Our Father's Lutheran Church since 1987. I enjoy singing and playing guitar as a way to minister and use my God given talents.  I have been married for 27 years with two grown daughters.
