Our combine is “on the ground” in Iringa, Tanzania; the local Cheetah Development staff together with the John Deere service center nearby have put it all together and done some unexpected servicing.
Although we have given Cheetah the green light to go ahead and start using the combine to thresh and shell corn, it has proven more difficult than anticipated and the Cheetah team has been burdened by $1700 in extra charges from these services and the use of John Deere technicians. Now they are awaiting the arrival of Steve and Sheri Strehlow to do the necessary calibration, testing, and training involved in setting up the machine for shelling corn.
The Harvesters of Hope team is also sending Brian Walton and Paul Bolstad with Steve and Sheri to Iringa to help continue on the combine mission and build stronger relationships with villagers and Cheetah Development staff. They will also be able to help with the technical documentation for the local Cheetah team to safely operate and maintain this machine per Steve and Sheri’s training. We are also hoping to deepen our relationship with a sister congregation while Paul and Brian are there!
If you are willing to help further these relationships, please, most importantly pray to keep all the travelers safe during their journey and for them to have courage to step out in faith!
We are looking to raise $6000 to cover the airfare and to help Cheetah cover their initial service expenses. Monetary donations can be given by contacting the church office with a check or donating online (see button below to donate)
(Your donation is tax deductible through OFLC. If writing a check, make payable to OFLC with “Harvesters of Hope” in the memo line.)
Help us get it going and all paid for
